As long as your plan is set up for direct billing, we should be able to save you the hassle of paying up front first and submitting the claim to be reimbursed later.

Bring with you the name of your insurance provider, plan number, and certificate number (also known as policy and member ID).
If you’re a new patient:
Current Prescription: bring your latest prescription, current glasses, contacts lens prescription or your current contact lenses.
Medial History: A current list of medications and any information regarding medical conditions.
Previous Eye Exam Records: It isn’t necessary, but any relevant information from your previous optometrist can be helpful.
If you are receiving assistance, provide your BC Services Card (MSP). They will verify your coverage with Pacific Blue Cross. The coverage includes routine eye exams, new eyeglasses and repairs to lenses or frames.
The BC Healthy Kids Program is designed to provide financial support to low- and middle-income families for their children’s needs related to prescription eyewear, basic dental care, and hearing aids. Children under 19 years old who receive active MSP premium assistance from the Ministry of Health, BC, qualify for this program.

Doctors of optometry are eligible to set a copay for services and may bill MSP on behalf of their patients when there is coverage available.
